I think it's a good oil and I have used 5W30 (and 10w30) in my 5W20 spec'd Accord with no problems. I'd use it in the warmer months rather than the winter. I'd say a 7500 mile OCI is doable in a Honda.

Yeah its good stuff. I would easily go 6000 miles on an OCI without hesitation. Use a good filter though. Napa gold which is a Wix is a great choice for a 6000 mile interval. My .02.

I would think it would be perfectly fine up to Honda's recommended interval at least, time and mileage. They don't require synth, do they? Grp III would be above what their interval is designed for.

I think you're being WAY too conservative with your numbers. There is no reason I wouldn't run this oil for 6 months/7-8k miles. Heck, we've seen Honda engines with superb UOAs at 10k OCIs running SM conventional!

(Obviously YMMV with any particular individual UOA)

I think a 7500 mi OCI (with a Gr.3 syn) in a Honda is CONSERVATIVE when Honda calls for a 10K OCI with conventional oil. At that OCI your engine should far outlast your A/T.

I wouldnt have no problems going 7500+ on it (with uoa of course). I have the 5w30 in my corolla now with 2500 miles on it, yes I would like to run it to 5k but now that my daily commute is 4 miles instead of 62 it will probably be changes at the 6 month mark.

If you are considering getting it because of bogo dont hesitate to get it.

But in a pinch, that rot-gut synthetic is just fine!

Oilgal will you please explain what will happen to Synpower after it's in an engine longer than three months?

posty,

This is my alternate oil I use if and only when I can't find my tried and true Mobil 1. Persoanlly when I ahve used this good synthetic oil I've noticed absolutle no ill effects at all. My guess is that your Honda will accept it with no troubles.

Slow global warming get more miles from your oil. 3k should only be considered if you spend most of your time street racing or towing in the desert. For most other applications. Start with a base OCI of 5k and work your way up based on Vehicle and Usage. Oils are pretty good these days.
