Since I doubt we'll get the whole story here, allow me to be the first to say:

AutoRx will make it like new!!

Excellent!

All I know is what I put in the first post, I didn't get to talk to the owner of this one. But I did talk to the guy who pulled the engine and he said it was still full of oil when the wrecker dropped it off. If it is still there when I go back to dyno test an engine or two this weekend, I can take some more pic's if you like. What else would you like to see?

Well, at least Golden State has a pretty clear warning label on the back stating it doesn't meet new warranty requirements for engines. To still use it after reading that …

You can't judge a book by it's cover, but I'd be [censored] if I put that oil in anything I owned by looking at how cheap it looks.

What is important to us, holds zero interest to most. Thats why you will never see my car overheated on the side of the road, but my toenails will never look "just right"

Man I`d just tell her to head to HEB or Walmart and grab a bottle of her fave toenail polish and repolish those talons. Oh,and to scope out the oil aisles too while she`s there.

We find these (circumstantial evidence) bottles from time to time in customers cars who think "oil is just oil" (they eventually fess up) and buy it because its cheap. Their engines didn't look any better and some were much worse...

The 97 Civic died at only 240k due to a lack of lubrication, which siezed the cam and then sheared the cam drive sprocket keyway. Take a look at the main bearing journal that spun its bearing. The head was really FUBAR but the picture didn't come out.

Only on a Honda which leads me to my question..if this really horrile oil took 240k for engine to seize...

Can a Honda use any API/SAE rated oil with impunity?

and what about if you use an exceptional oil? What then? Does it overperform?

I know the tolerance and clearances are so tight in my 2006 V6 that I get a performance and mileage boost from simply using lighter or better oils!!

Even when my tires wear out and there is less tread which means less weight, the car does better. I think honda='whatever' when it comes to oil as long as it's SAE/API certified.

Don't get too excited, we had engines from the 30's in our fleet of old woodies with 10's of thousands of hours on them running on generic non-detergent oil, as that's what they called for.

And we also don't know that this oil was run in this car for the entire 240K to my knowledge, I think we were still wondering whether this was just top-up oil or?

Duff, I knew that would come up. I just googled toenail polish forums and that was the first thing that came up. I swear it, I'm not backing off of my story....wanna know some good pedicure tips?
