My good buddy gave me a Yard Machine 638RL riding mower. Model #13AC762F. Motor- Briggs & Stratton752B0905G513.5 HP

It sat outside covered up with gas that went bad.

I replaced the battery. I drained old gas. Flushed fresh gas through the tank/lines/fuel filter. I took the carb apart 3 times, blew air through every possible hole. I even boiled the whole carb. The bowl is getting gas and the float is working properly.

I CANNOT GET IT TO START. The only way it will run is if I pour fuel down the intake of the carb. It fires right up!

I cannot adjust anything on the carb. Everything is clear.

I'm so frustrated I had to walk away as I'm out of ideas....

On the plus side, my second girl was born Thursday evening!

That tells me the engine is starving for fuel. Did you actually think you could get by without taking the carb apart for cleaning?

I won't even bother pulling the rope on a small engine that's sat out in the weather for any length of time.

I've taken the carb completly apart three times. Each time I've blown compressed air through it. I've boiled the carb all taken apart as well. I haven't cut any corners.

No its gravity fed in this order:Gas tank, fuel petcock, fuel filter, carb.

I had a similar problem with my Sears rider. The needle kept getting stuck in the seat, and I had to hit the side of the carb with a hammer to get it to dislodge. It continued to do so even with a new needle & seat, although not as bad. I read on a small engine forum someplace that this can happen with some B&S carbs and a B&S master technician recommended polishing the seat with a wet Q-Tip dabbed in something like Bon-Ami (just a tiny amount of Bon-Ami) and then cleaning to seat to remove any residual abrasive.

I diagnosed that it was a stuck needle by hooking up a clean piece of fuel line to the carb and blowing into it with my mouth, There was no air movement. While blowing, I hit the side of the carb with a hammer and knocked the needle free and air began to flow, and the engine started right up when I reconnected the fuel line.

Thank you for the advice. I will give that a try.

This carb is a Nikki. The float bowl is plastic and the needle is is aluminum/metal. It appears that Amazon has a replacement carb for $17. At this point I may give it a shot besides your trick.

Here is the Briggs deciphered info for your engine

Model: 13AC762F

Type: 120T02

Code: 9263-08

Date Code: 06100556

Good luck! My carb is also a Nikki, but the bowl is metal. Hence, be gentle when "hitting" your carb with a hammer. Maybe aim for the area above the bowl, or use a screwdriver placed against the upper part of the carb and hit the screwsriver's handle with the hammer.

Carbs are about $50 but before you buy one have you used high pressure air to blow out all the orifice holes. If so if there is something that will not dislodge end the frustration and replace it it is what I had to do with a Cub Cadet snowblower. The dealer said he no longer cleans carburetors partly due to labor costs to the customer. This all to ethanol.

Everything that I can see with the eye is open and clear. I used compressed air for the internal out of sight areas and have air movement.

Carbs are cheap, just replace it. And add new fuel lines and fuel filter and spark plugs and oil and oil filter. $75 and you should have a great running mower.

Wish I had some advice but I don't. But I've certainly experieced that level of frustration with a small engine carb before. Bad feeling. Hang in there and congrats on the really important part of your post!
