I bought a case of this oil for no other reason that I was curious. Curious to see what is in it and curious to see how it performs in our race quads. My thinking is that maybe it will reduce parasitic drag and give me a smidgen more throttle response. I sent it off for a VOA...not too impressed.

This looks like there's nothing in there. Yamaha says this oil contains esters, doesn't say how much, hopefully a lot. This is sort of in line with some of the newer generation synthetic moto oils I've seen VOAs and UOAs of, doesn't look like much, but perform very well.

At this point, I'm gonna run it and do a UOA on at least two of our quads to see what's going on.

What do y'all think, junk, or definite maybe?

why the wierd grade? 10w30 can already be made with no VII's

you cant tell me 15w30 is going to be better than 10w30 with no VII at anything?

So that tells you what? cheapness bad vi?

obviously there is a ton you cant see from a Voa.. it will probably perform well.

Lots of Moly. Lots of Boron.

Good numbers on the other additives also.

445 Flashpoint too.

What's not to love??

Somehow I didn't pay attention to the flashpoint until you said something, I like it, takes lots of esters to get a flashpoint up like that.

I'll post a UOA after our next race in two weeks.

Looks good to me. You can count on seeing less metallic adds in newer formulations.

This is most likely not Infineum's trinuclear moly.

For what it cost it better not be. I'm hoping this is a new generation oil with non metallic additives.

It's in one air cooled quad now, next race in two weeks. I'll take an oil sample after the race and decide where to go from there.

Interesting oil though, strange weight, low traditional anti-wear additives, lots of moly for a moto oil and high flash point.

Just remember, moly and boron are there for added friction and wear reduction. Esters and newly developed polymers also take up some slack for reduced zddp.

I know this is for a quad but I just ran an experimental 9.5 cst 0W30 in our vehicles this winter and I actually had better wear numbers.
