Hey all, I recently picked up a 2007 Suburban with the 5.3L. I've been reading up on the different filters with regards to the bypass psi, and could use some help. Even though I've disabled the AFM, I'm wondering if the best choice for filters is now the xg12060.

I've been reading up on the different filters with regards to the bypass psi, and could use some help. The 5.3L is spec'd for a xg10060, with the larger option being the xg10575. After reading the thread on the xg12060, I'm thinking that's a solid choice to keep the filter from bypassing at the lower psi. Am I correct?

Any experts want to confirm my decision before I do my next oil change?

Oil filters don't go into bypass because of low oil pressure ... if that's what you're thinking.

I was thinking more along the lines of why wouldn't I use the 12060 if it will filter more and bypass less... My 5.3 has great oil pressure as of today, but I'd like this engine to be top notch for a long time!

Got ya now. Since they are all XG Ultras then the media efficiency should all be the same. Yes, the one with the highest bypass setting shouldn't bypass as easily, but I would also trust the filter that's called out. What's the bypass setting for each filter?
