I have been wanting to give Amsoil a try for a while now, so I am going to give their 0w-20 a try when I use up my stache of PYB.

What I am wondering is if I should spring for the Amsoil filter or stick with my old standby, the Wix 51356.

I drive an 02 civic with 140000 miles on it. The 0w20 will be in my car for one year (which is about 15000 miles). The reason I am wondering if the more expensive filter is worth it is that under normal driving conditions (which is where I usually fall due to 95% of my driving being on the highways) Honda recommends I change my filter every 20,000 miles. So, is there any reason to use the Ea15k13?

I am an Amsoil fan but truthfully do not know the exact numbers of absolute micron filtration.

My advice to you is to call Dan watson @ 800 370 2986. he is here in FL. A VERY knowledgeable guy who will tell you the deal.

My take is, you can easily spend a very comparable dollar figure on a bosch distance plus/K&N etc etc...but are they filtering to the same level?....some other guys here will be able to give a better answer in microns etc but if you are gonna use the Amsoil for an extended drain, wouldnt it be the smart thing to do and get the filter that is designed to help achieve that?

Its prob gonna cost you an extra $10 compared to the other filters in the sub $10 range....$10 over a year....go with the Ea..

when you read from the page above, which other filter manufacturers can make these same claims??

I would love to see a Particle Count Test on these 2 oil filters after 20,000 miles. Then we could see if this EaO Oil Filter is really worth the price and if it really holds up.

About the same price as an M1, but no more than a BD+. If you buy only it without a PC membership, perhaps you'll pay more than a RP if you buy and only have the filter to ship, which would be pretty wasteful for any online orders.

I love this perspective, looking at the particle count.

Normally when i buy Amsoil stuff, I add the engine flush and the P.I. (performance improver) fuel system cleaner onto the order with the oil & filter so that it goes over $75 and I get free shipping.

Its a chunk all at once but i know im getting high end products and its for extended drain so its gonna be while before i have to do it again!

There is the science and proof but so much of this comes down to opinions and perceptions so i speak carefully but I do like Amsoil!

I like their filters. I would say you get what you pay for. If your looking for 15K intervals why not change the filter every 7500 with what you are using now.

You could use either the Wix or the Amsoil. If it was me I'd keep using the Wix, but it's your car

Can you get them packaged with oil, as i normally do when i buy 5qts syn and a bosch dp/ or m1, the filter is realitevly cheap that way, I wouldnt pay $12+ for a filter.

Only a PC gets it 'relatively' better priced and buying it with other items from their online store makes it worthwhile to pay for the shipping. It's going to be at least $10 probably. There is no store trying to get rid of the product, unless you have a location around you that carries Amsoil. I have one nearby. I hope they start carrying AZO, but they currently haven't carried 0w30 yet. As for the oil filter for my car, the old 20 they have but not the new 15,000 mile 20 P/N and it's overpriced IMO. I can get it cheaper online and that includes shipping, because of getting the PC price.

+1......two Purolator PureOne's would work just as well.....and have better efficiency.

I think PureOne's have a rebate ($2) going now....and can be buy them for $5 on Amazon (purchase 5...and you get free shipping). You can have five PureOne's ($3 each)... for the price of one Amsoil. Makes sense to me.

Why not go with a Baldwin B1402, it has the microlite media in it and most of them are around 98% efficient at 12 microns.
