The second oil filter on the cutter tonight is a Wix WL10290. This filter is used on many GM products with the 1.5L, 1.4L, and other engines. I have a stock of these filters and will use them until I run out. This filter is off a 2017 Chevrolet Spark w/ 1.4L engine. OCI was ~5000 miles with Castrol Edge EP 0w20.

The filter media looks well spaced and the louvers are open. However, the leaf spring has a nice, beautiful ruffle in the side. I don't know how much, if any, this would effect performance, but I would guess it would heavily. I had great hope for this Wix filter, but as normal, let down by Wix build quality.

Here are the pics:

The leaf spring in this filter doesn't do any sealing on the end cap, it only provides force to hold the guts tight. The bypass valve is built into the end cap, not the leaf spring like used on Champ Lab/Fram filters, where the leaf spring also seals the hole in the end cap.

'What I can see', looks good to me. Like it got the job done at the 5k mi oci. M&H calls it a Wix, but looking at it wouldn't surprise me if manufactured at Puro factory in Fayetteville. Date code format would tell more. As accurately noted above, there's no comparison to Champ Labs bypass seal area(s) because topic bypass endcap integral, not separate.

Thanks for c&p.

You've seen some of the consolidation with Purolator. 👍
