Wix or Puralator Air Filter?

One thing you guys might want to consider is that you might not be doing yourselves a favor by changing the filter every year. They become more efficient as they catch dirt, up until the point where they become restrictive.

Unless it's VERY nasty during your annual change you'd be better off running it longer.

True, Matt, in theory, I think.....
I have said the same in the past; either the paper catches the dirt or a dirt particle assists..
By then, IMO, the filter, particularly an AC Delco, is fast on its way to being clogged..
Fords built in manometer is truly one of their better ideas, and this is a low cost gauge..

That has never worked worth a **** on my Ford.

Puralator PureOne looks like a sure winner.
I don't know about the availability of this filters. If you can find it, get it!!!

"With twice the trapping capacity of conventional air filters, PureONE air filters feature exclusive Micronic filtration, allowing 70% less harmful contaminants into your engine and increasing airflow. Greater airflow improves horsepower and your overall vehicle performance."
Seems to be another Donaldson media knock-off.
Looks very similar to Amsoil EA filters, at probably a fraction of the price.
Compare it to Amsoil:

I'll switch a Wix air filter for my Camry 92 - it seems to be a good compromise between air flow and efficiently. I am not sure how often should I change it though, I'am mostly doing city driving with occational long trips (1000kms+) - Thanks.

From O2Stang... http://home.usadatanet.net/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm

You guys should check this site to find out the truth. AC Delco Roolz, K&N Droolz.

Does anyone know why the AC Delco tested so outstandingly ??? Is it really that much better than its competition..??..

As far as any restriction goes, all the car engineer has to do is make the filter larger, this used to be easy for well designed vehicles; but for the pathetic '93 VW VR6 Passat, there was never enough engine bay room..
I still think the manometer idea is sound - wouldn't you know it that Ford would find a way to mess it up....lol...

i would pick purolator pure one air filter. But if i were choosing either wix or purolator premium plus (regular) air filter, i would go with wix or napa gold.

I went and looked at a Purolator filter for my 2003 CR-V and saw that it was made in China. It was much cheaper and flimsy than the stock Toyo Roki filter. None of the parts stores that sell Wix had them in stock. I went online and ordered the stock Honda filter.

Yea, but those are just the marketing terms.
I'll try email Puralator and ask them directly.

The response from Purolator:
"I am sorry, but that data is proprietary."

I would love to compare the actual pictures of the Amsoil EaA and PureOne filter media.

, or maybe not, but I just bought a Shop Vac filter at Lowes with media pleats that look EXACTLY like the media pleats in the Pure One and Amsoil filters. It was the top of the line filter for filtering fine particulates such as concrete dust/powder.

And it was made by.......Donaldson!!!
