I plan to do an Auto-RX double-rinse cycle ASAP, and was looking for an oversized filter. I'd like to go with WIX. My car seems to have plenty of room for a taller oil filter.

On the WIX site the part # for my car is 51361 I believe. Does anyone know of an oversized(taller) filter that would work in place? Thanks.

What bp said, plus: do you also have room for a regular "full diameter" filter?(about 3 5/8 to 3 3/4" in diameter)

If so, the big standard Ford filter, MotorCraft FL-1A or Wix 51515, has the same gasket & threads as the Wix 51361.

Subie?

Sorry about that! Vehicle is a 1992 Nissan 240sx w/ 16 valve DOHC Inline 4 cylinder.

Stuart Hughes, the stock filter is nearly 3", and there seems to be PLENTY more room both in height and width....but especially height. Either way, I don't think an extra inch of diameter will be a problem.

So would it be good to skip out on the 51361 if for nothing else it has no bypass?

Well, it is spec'd for your engine ..so there's no harm in using it

The 51516 is your longer filter. A 51515 is a bigger and longer. The gasket is slightly bigger (2.8x vs. 2.7x ..the ID is about identical) ..but should work just fine
