Just changed the oil on my car yesterday and and its only when I went to change the old wix filter with the new that I caught a glimpse of the large "MADE IN MEXICO" sticker on the side that I have never seen before on all the wix filters I've changed over the years. Were the wix filters always made in Mexico or are they just advertising this now, because I always thought they were made in the good'ol US of A. If they are (made in Mexico) has anyone noticed any quality issues?

New one on me. Slowly and sadly it seems, everyone is moving production out of this country.

The last WIX filters I've bought were made in USA -
that was no more than 2 years ago. I was just at
AutoZone tonight and Bosch #3331 was made in USA.
If WIX moves production to Mexico, I won't be buying
their filters anymore.

Had to look inside the box to find out where Purolator PureOne and Motorcraft Oil Filters were made. The Purolator box had "look inside" to find country of origin. Both filters were made in USA. From now on, I think everyone needs to look "inside the box", if allowed, to find out where it was made, unless the outside of the box states "Made in USA" if sealed.

Something to think about: On my Purolator filter, in Spanish, it states: "Hecho en Los E.U." Which means "Made in the U.S."

Anything made in the European Union mess, is labeled Hecho en los U.E.

Though I don't use Wix, I'm not going to jump on Wix here. Ford make some of it's best and most popular cars in Mexico. Like it or not it's a global economy. Now, if the quality began to suffer, that would be a different story. Also, if it said made in China, I'd have reservations about buying. JMO.

Some of the best electronics are made in China. Your Television, Computer and soon your car. Post Bretton Woods Blues. Remeber August 1971 when it happened?

The last few Wix air filters I've bought were made in China.

They were not worth the $$ and I sent them back. Depends on the model where its made with WIX.

[censored] at best.....

The WIX fuel filter I bought was made in mexico. Better than Purolator's made in china stuff.
AFAIK, all of my Purolator oil filters and those made by Puro (MC, AAP, Powerflo, Bosch) are made in the USA. Never seen a Puro oil filter made in China. If there is such it would be a small fraction of their oil filters sold in the US, that's if there is such a beast.

My main reservation with the China made product would be quality, as evidenced by not so recent revelations of many China made products. Even though it was more expensive, I bought a NAPA ( go there very infrequently) gas filter made in the US, rather than a China made Auto Zone.

If we dont start making stuff n the U.S.A. again the economy and country will collapse. Manufacturing drive;s the economy through multiple sectors - the service industry cannot do this and cannot sustain a viable economy. We're on the threshold right now.

It is my understanding that they make some filters in Mexico. I know the Amsoil/wix made filters are that way.

My feelings about items from Mexico. If we are going to have something made elsewhere, I would rather it come from Mexico over China/Asian. If we can give the Mexican people some work, maybe they will be able to keep their people from coming here illegally. Can you imagine if we had a border with China.

I think American's better start caring about where products are made or our country is going to sink --- we need to keep our jobs here, period.

I check labels on everything I buy and where the option exists, I will buy American; if I see made in China, it can just rot on the shelve.

It's capitalism folks. Companies will build their products where they can be made cheaper and/or better. Frankly, I'm rather surprised that something as simple and cheap to make as an oil filter can still be built competitively in the U.S., yet a few manufacturers still do so while paying wages and benefits that I would guess are at least 4 times the cost in Mexico--those must be some efficient factories! So kudos to the U.S. workers who do such a great job. That is how you keep manufacturing in this country--by doing it better.

I much rather have an American made Purolatar or Champ from $2.50-6.00 over a more expensive filter made in Mexico. It's bad enough they don't make it in the US, but then to charge even more for it(especially when I don't think it's mde any better or as good) takes the cake.

Anybody seen the GE commercial about "the reinvention of America"
...where they say they think the answer is making things in the USA?
Does this mean they're gonna move their appliance factories back out of Mexico? Or the electrical controls factory they put out of business near me because they didn't even want to do business with a filthy American manufacturer?
