I went to replace the A/F in my 2002 Dodge truck,no Fram or Purolator is listed, and I didn't want to pay dealer price,so I went to NAPA,and got the gold series filter. It's an EXACT duplicate of the Mopar oem filter right down to the printing, and stamped "made in France".So who makes the Wix A/F's??

And this filter wasn't cheap either,NAPA boned me for $25.00!!

Part of the Dodge/Mercedes Merger. Parts from Europe. Had to happen. Like French perfume and wine. Very expensive.

Gee, at least the Baldwin and Hastings air filters used to be marked as made in Israel.

Hope those French people making the Wix air filters are not angry at us. I did not check where my Wix (NAPA Gold) air filter was made. They sure were angry at that American woman who was playing tennis in their country!

BURN IT!

I just had to buy a new air flow meter for my car...it was made in france, but I had no other options

. You do...and I think you should excercise them.

The following is the reply I got back in reference to this filter made in france.
Thank you for your kind words regarding our filtration products. We
appreciate you taking time to contact us. As far as the "made
in France"
issue, the entire filter industry buys products instead of producing
them.
Some times this an economic issue based on production costs or
anticipated
low unit sales volumes. Obviously the 2002 Dodge truck applications
are do
not follow into these guidelines. Of the 3 air filters that are used
in
the various 2002 engine options, all 3 are now built by us here in
Gastonia
NC. The particular application your friend got was a very temporary
situation to insure our customers had the opportunity to buy a
product from
us while we were in the process of tooling to build this product.

Thank you for your inquiry and your continued interest in Wix
Filtration
products.

It seems like more and more as time goes on there is less and less made in the good old USA. Air filters made in Israel or France, oil filters made in Outer Mongolia. Some time back I came across either an air filter or an oil filter (I can't remember which at this time) that was marked as made in some third world conutry. Imagine what their levels of quality manufacturering are.

It is somewhat amazing to me that something as simple as an oil filter can actually be made cheaper in some other country and then shipped to America, instead of just being made here. What a fantastic difference in pay scale there must be.

I was at Wally World and noticed that the Fram fuel filter that fits my Cavalier was made in Israel. Also, this division of Fram is owned by Honeywell, not Allied Signal. I was under the impression that Honeywell bought out all of Allied a few years ago. Maybe not, as Fram oil filters still have Allied Signal's name on them. Oh well, sorry to hear that your filter was made in France.

Steve S, I saw a show on TV a long time ago that showed a place in Mexico where they were making Ford Escorts for the US. The people building the cars lived in a slum situation you would not believe and were paid a tiny fraction of what American workers make. Those Escorts were selling at the same price as Escorts made in America.

They move too much manufacturing to third world countries and there will be nobody here in America able to buy the cars and trucks. How will they sell their stuff then?

Noticed earlier in the year that Advance Auto Parts batteries are now being made in Mexico. When I saw the sticker on the battery, I told the parts guy to put it back on the shelf. Went to Carquest and they had a US made battery for five bux more. If we all stick together, we can beat them on this one to a certain degree.
cheers.gif
Sooner or later this is going to affect everyone who works in this country.

I can give you a great reason why batteries are made in Mexico, environmental rules about the handling of lead.

Mexico has about ZERO rules.

I'm not saying we should adopt similar strategies about our environment, but we've brought a great deal of this on ourselves.

I am with you on this one cousincletus. I check where everything I buy is made and sometimes I have to purchase from somewhere else but I first try to find something made in the US.

Bringing back a dead post here

I just replaced my Napa Gold on my SHO with a new one (greased it all up changing a waterpump, oops), and on the seal it said "MADE IN USA".

ROFL, "made in the USA" doesn't matter anymore considering they're probably not made by Americans, but immigrants willing to work for low pay, even if they're made in the US. Don't hate the French people. They don't control their government any more than we control ours. Big business indirectly controls or at least heavily influences governments.

My point is that the OEM Mopar filter and the Wix filter are EXACTLY the same, but made in 2 different countries.I wanted to know what company makes the Wix in France.(does Wix have a plant in France??,are they made by the France air filter company??)
