WIX 57145XP, Made in ____

I have 2 subject oil filters, one is made in Mexico, the other USA. I was originally planning to use both in my 23 Sienna, however, I decided I’ll be using the USA in the newish Sienna, save the Mexico for the 07 RAV4, currently on its first Valvoline Restore and Protect cycle.

The Mexico feels lighter, and I attribute that to the non-wired backed media, as opposed to the USA version. I’ll update with C&P when appropriate.

M+H moved production. Which one has the newest date code? I'm betting the one made in Mexico. They also changed the media by going from wire-backed full synthetic to a non wire-backed cellulose blend media. The one made in Mexico might actually have better efficiency media, since the full synthetic Wix XP has pretty low end efficiency.

I hope you can do more picturing and studying down the center tube and show the base plate. The USA looks longer unless it is camera perspective. I know the Bosch 3325 I have, also made in Mexico, was not as long as the old one. For a 3/4 thread application also.

WIX has cheapened their XP line over the last few years as seen above. Thanks for the comparison & be sure to cut them up after use?

Still wouldn’t use either. Cut too many WIX garbage made in Mexico with horrible pleat spacing and ones with tears

I prefer a low efficiency oil filter in the small form factor (smaller than a coffee can).

Looks like the Mehico one is the new Wix XP in which they dropped the backing and the USA one is older with the backing.

The Mexican made was from Rock Auto. The American made was from Home Depot.

I’ll use them both on the same vehicle, that way it’s a better comparison.
