This is the filter from my first OCI on the CATERHAM blend, UOA here. Nothing out of the ordinary, typical Wix. Maybe less wavy than the last one I used. You can see some grit in the bottom of the can, I don't think it is from cutting the can (I use a rotary tool) as the two filters I opened from my Son's Mazda did not have anything like this in the bottom. This UOA had elevated lead, nothing sparkly in the bottom of the pleats however. spots in bottom of can appeared to be more like maybe carbon.

Yes it does appear so and filter could be suspect for the high lead streak... Unless cp3 can confirm by further inspection that the filter media is not even slighty split ?

I will take a look again but I believe that is just flash reflection on the oil. Both of the Wix filters I posted had quite a bit of oil left in them, enough that it pooled and overflowed the end cap. Maybe I'll wrap this one in paper towel and post a new pic as well.

That's the doctor's fault... not ours!

Maybe they need a Bob is the X-Ray Guy!

Took a look at the element again, no obvious breeches anywhere. I wrapped it up in a couple shop towels and will take a look again in a couple days, with the pic in front of me so I can make sure it's the same pleat. I'll post a new pic at that time.

Wix has decent media performance (not top-tier, but good for the market they target).
Most all have silicone ADBV.
Typically are of robust heavy constrction.
Often have base-end bypass (not always).

What seems "over-rated" about that?

Read all the posts from KevGuy. You will quickly see a pattern. Sometimes it's best not to feed the trolls.

Someone's trying to constantly peddle FRAM kool-aid. He's drank a gallon or two it seems.

Funny how all the other peddlers have to pay for sponsoring their product.

It's just funny how someone can be so hung up on trying to convince everyone that OCODs are the best filters to use without saying really why.
lol.gif
It's good entertainment at least.

I don't always say the orange can. I do say sometimes "use a FRAM."

I will not run wix, biggest reason why is I despise NAPA, and would rather support my respective vehicle/AG/powersports dealers. After all, when I really need them, I want them to be there for me.

You won't buy a WIX because they sell them at NAPA?
Seems kinda weird... you can buy them at other places.
I buy mine at an Auto Value parts store.
They are probably the best quality filter I have cut open.
