I've given up on windshield sealants. I stopped using Rain-X years ago. Tried several others including Griot's and Adams. My windshiled is not bare after using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and new wipers.

You never use magic erasers on a windshield first of all. Second after detailing many vehicles over the years you use a glass scrub that is designed to remove grime and clean out the tiny pits in glass. Aquapel, and glass science work really well. There's another one that I can't remember right now in a bright green can that I think has silocone in it as it can be applied in wet weather.

What's the issue with using magic erasers on glass?

What about TW Seal and Shine on the windshield?

Magic erasers weren't designed to remove alot of road grime and automotive chemicals embedded in windshields.

I use TWS&S on all car windows except the windshield because I had some issues with wiper blades smearing the coating .
Smearing is my biggest issue with window coatings. I thoroughly clayed the windshield and it has no coating. I'll keep searching.

I’ve got gtechniq glass….(i cant remember part number off hand rn) on my windows all around. No issues. No streaking. Water beads up nicely.

Thanks for the recommendation.
G1 and g2 are the products I sealed with. Prep was key. Next time I do it, I’m going to use a rotary buffer for prep instead of by hand. But you may already have this equipment.

As with anything, prep is key!

I bought through detailed image. They have sales pretty frequently if you check their website or sign up for emails. They pack well and ship pretty quickly too. HTH

Can you use a product like nu finish or any car wax on the windshield?????
I haven’t done it with anything except a carnuba wax years ago. I can’t remember the name off hand but it was pretty good and I bought it after a Sam’s club demo the guy ran on my car.

Not the same longevity of the stuff I have now. But still pretty cool 20 yrs ago.

I also gave up long ago.

Don't need to add another maintenance task to the list, since every coating will be worn away by the wipers and need to be replenished at some point.

And it's not like there's nothing to sweep away water that collects on the windshield.

Side windows and backlight, a different story. Mirrors also a no-no, due to the recurring foggy smearing that would develop on them.

I was going to ask the same question as we got some rain recently where I live. The windshield on my truck is stripped, used Invisible glass to strip it. I tried going all glass no sealants no repellents no nothing and I didn’t like it as I couldn’t see driving in rain. So now im using rain x cleaner repellant spray as I already have it. It doesn’t last but one storm at most.
