I hope nobody else took the metro thing the wrong way either. I found it awfully funny! And I like the Metro concept as applied to the Windows Phone platform. For a computer operaing system, probably not, but it works well on a phone. I'd imagine it would work well on a tablet. Clean and useful.

And I didn't even have to go out and buy some skinny jeans

It sure seems as though some of the Linux-based desktops are adapting their UI's to phone and mobile use, as well. It's been a matter of some contention among users that, in particular, Gnome 3's UI and Unity are aimed at mobile devices.

It was. I like the W7 setup. I agree with the sentiment about W8. No way will I use Metro on a desktop. I would feel silly.


I am a fan of Win7 too. It checks all the right boxes for me. It is fast, stable, reliable, compatible, looks pretty good. No complaints.

If poking fun at the use of the term "metro" by associating it with the topic of metrosexualality bothers you, then tell me why. Don't hint around it using aloof references to "narrow mindedness" as if by not stooping to my level of extracting humour out of Microsoft's naming convention here that it puts you that much closer to God or some level of divine equality that mere mortals such as myself are unable to obtain.

I laugh when I find something funny. Because Microsoft's naming convention makes me think of metrosexuals, I laugh. I found it funny and made an image of it. Others found humour in it as well. There was no offence meant in my post or by the image. Are we really becoming this politically correct that something like this offends somebody? If so, that is truly tragic.


um, I wasn't meaning you. I knew what YOU meant, and meant it as a joke. I think you misunderstood. I wasn't offended by anything you posted.
I meant the replies where people decided against win 8 because they associated win 8 with metro-sexuality.

People do make those decisions though: i am pretty sure at least one post deciding against win 8 due to the metro was serious.
Look at the thread where people decided not to buy at JCP because their commercial/ad showed a gay couple raising kids. LOL!

There really is no reason to upgrade to Win8. Win7 still has a long shelf life ahead of it.

I would equate Win8 to ME and Vista (a money-making, unneeded product).
 
Nothing I can say about it I have not already. Only thing is I named the "machine" "ForThePlot". That was giggle worthy to see that in my network list. Thumbs up if you get the joke.
Anyway, I showed it to my brother. He was jaw agape at the interface. He thought it was retarded. Then I locked the machine and showed him the sliding screen to get to the password box. Then he got it. "This is for tablets isnt it?" "eeYup."
 
Windows 8 has not really even come out yet, although people can give it a try. It is hard to say if it will be a failure or not. If it is, I will just keep using Windows 7 until Microsoft comes out with Windows 9. I think the best desktop operating systems are Windows and Mac OS X.

People have been saying for something like 15 years that Linux operating systems were going to replace Windows. When it comes to computer technology 15 years is like a century. f it has not happened yet, it is probably never going to happen.
