why is M1 only available in SL in Ontario?

#1 = shelf space
#2 = imported to Canada in large quantities therefore minimizing wharehouse space and items stocked
#3 = the buyer's perceived market demand

Forget about the M1EP and go to your local Esso bulk plant and buy Esso Extra XD3, full synthetic, if a 0W30 if it was 5W30 you were intending to use. There is no need to pay the premium for Mobil 1 when you live in Canada and Esso XD3 is readily accessible for one-third or 40% less cost.

Good advice from our BITOG member out west!

It''s a great deal, why pay twice as much $$ for Mobil 1.
I got mine(XD-3 SL) from NOCO, a bulk oil distributor.

If SM oil is what you're looking for you'll have to check around to see if they have any new stock.
I don't think it's SM formulated yet.

Could be that Mobil doesn't think EP will last 25,000km in our climate or with our "dirtier gas", or maybe the 5000km OCI is even more engrained in the minds of Canadians. I don't know anyone that does extended drains besides myself. Most people look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them I go 40,000km on an oil change...lol!

I just mailed away another XD3 sample with 15,000km of mostly city driving. Watch for the results to be posted Thursday or Friday.
