Why hasn't API 'SJ' been withdrawn?

They've updated the API chart.....GF-4 is obsolete, replaced by GF-5. On the diesel side, API CF-2 and CG-4 have been withdrawn, now just CH-4, CI-4, and CJ-4.

But, on the 'gas' side, nothing has changed - API SJ, SL, SM, and now SN are all current. I thought with the move to SN, SJ would become obsolete, and you'd have 3 gas specs, like the 3 diesel specs.

So, chances are, SJ might stay around for a bit? Just weird that other specs are deleted pretty quickly as others come along, but they can't seem to get rid of SJ......

"If it aint broke dont fix it."

Do we need to reignite the whole ZDDP levels thing? (What is approved stance on that one?)

I don't think there is anything magical about "3 specs". CJ-4 was out for a while before licensing of CF, CF-2, and CG-4 was discontinued.

On the API website it states that the CF-2 licensing was discontinued after one of the engine tests used to document CF-2 performance was no longer available.
