I think Mobil is after the soccer moms and unknowing dads who want "only the best" for their beloved vehicle. They have heard synthetic oil is good, Mobil-1 is the most widely known brand of synthetic, and BOOM they make one specifically for SUVs. It HAS to be the best.quote:

MARKETING BS at it's BEST. I'm waiting for the anti-terrorism oil next.
Remember the Fram commercials from about ten years back or so where the parts store guy berates a customer for buying a "no-name" plain white filter (probably one of those junk Purolators or Wix, eh?) instead of the more expensive but oh-so-high quality Fram? The line at the end of the commerical was Fram: pay a little more now or a lot later. I think of that every time I hear an employee at a store helping some unsuspecting schmuck pick out an oil filter say "well, the Purolator/ValueCraft/SuperTech/etc. is a decent filter, but if you want the best, the Fram is probably going to be a higher quality unit...."quote:

Have you seen the FRAM commercial that says: Fram it, before you slam it.
It shows the car owner installing a FRAM oil & air filter before he 'slams' the hood shut. LOL
You know it's going to be made 100% from the oil we've been stealing from Iraq, right?quote:

Then you probably won't get the "Hybrid" part of PZ Platinum 0w-20, either. It's specifically targeted at the hybrid market ...yet it and it's sibling PZ Plat 5w-20 are both 20 weightsquote:

Try $5.99 per quart T&SUV here in the SF Bay Area.quote:
I think it (T&SUV) was just a way to expand the users of D1 without spilling the beans outright that the truckers are getting taken to the cleaners paying around $6/quart as opposed to $4-$5 for T&SUV.
And of course the BMW/Williams F1 team is sponsored by Castrol, among others. All part of the same B2B deal, I imagine- put our name on your race cars, spec our oil, and we'll give you a killer deal on making your house brand/factory fill......quote:
