No, but I think he thinks he has!

We have been forcing him down, but on his front (hand on back of head/neck) I reason that if he were to try and bite (he has not to date) this would be safer.

99% of the time he is a great dog, just at times, he really Pushes my buttons

If you have any fear that he will bite you as the owner then you are not in a dominate position. The dog is not in need of training, you are. This is a very common problem with dogs. A dog will take the dominate position if the owner does not. You want complete submission from your dog. If my dogs urinates its on their backs as a sign of complete submission. If you are forcing him down on his belly it really means nothing to the dog. He needs to be rolled over on his back belly exposed.

If he is dominate he will not want to be put into a submissive position so I would not suggest trying it immediately. Educate yourself about canine body language.

You want him to be in #7 total submission.

DANG!!!!!! You mean I didn't have to bite his throat, just pin him on his back????? which is what happened during the throat biting but the same results, just a different route to get there........man, I got to quit drinking......

You did it correctly but you can use your fingers as a mouth to "bite" and hold them down until they submit. I view this as a better option then going to battle with "your" dog. In nature an Alpha dog has to fight if signs of submission are not given freely.

I'm not a dog expert by any means, but I grew up with dogs and this is exactly the behavior puppies and females showed to the pack leader, so TaterandNoodles' advice is spot on.
It was actually fun watching small puppies play with the dominant male. They would jump on him and whatnot, but the moment they pushed too far, the male would immediately jump on them with the teeth exposed, puppies would go belly up in a split second and play time was over.

You can pee on this dog all you want, if it does not want to go into the submissive position (belly up), it will not regard you as a pack leader, but as a rival to that position.

Your low expectations are deserving of the low standards to which you willingly submit yourself.

Is it best to do this before or after kicking it across the room?

I don't see where he made any mention of physical abuse?

You can't reason with dogs. You have to speak their language. They understand "NO" and the smell of urine.

I don't think this is submissive urination. I think it's stress or the dog is marking. In his eyes, you belong to him and he just wants to make it known to the other puppies in the area.

Back in the day, the family was at my brother's little league game and another dog came and marked the tire on my Dad's truck. A little while later when our dog was out, he went over and marked the dog.

You spray your urine outside and in your home if necessary? Do you warn other people of your urine-soaked dog, carpet, furniture, etc?

My spelling always has had the tendency to be
'less than accurate'

The digit of this emoticon is also inaccurate, but I guess you'll figure it out just the same.

The dog is dominating you, you need to urinate on him. That will show him whos boss. Tie him, pee, and stare at him in the eyes till he looks away.

The dog is always the boss. Just look how every dog drags a slave behind him on a leash. The slave's job is picking up feces. Speaking of which... maybe the dog can be made submissive with the application of an enema.
