Meangreen01, you still view BITOG that way? Try switching your view to frost. It is much easier on your eyes.

scroll to the very bottom of this page and look at the left. It will say BITOG-Gray or something like that. click on the arrow and it will show you all the different display options.

There are several filters but only a few companies that actually make them. The best thing to do is decide which filter(s) you are interested in and then ask about them.

The top makers of filters are in no certain order:

1.Affinia/WIX-They make WIX,Affinia,NAPA Gold,Carquest Blue,Auto Value and many other name filters.WIX makes house brand filters for other companies.

2.Champion Laboratories-They make Super Tech,Mobil 1,Champ,Luber-Finer,Mopar(Some),Kleener,Imperial,E-Core,STP,TRD,MXM,K&N,Petro Clear,Deutsch,VW,Motorcraft(New vehicle only),Royal Purple Service Champ to name a few. They make house brand filters for other,

3.Bosch/Purolator-Bosch,Purolator,Mopar(Some),Motorvator(K-Mart brand),Motorcraft(aftermarket),and others. They also make house brand filters for others.

4.Fram-Fram,Honda(OEM Filter) and they did make Pennzoil filters, not sure if that still applies. There may be others.

Most filters made will fall under one of these companies. The filters will have varying degrees of construction depending on the price point and who they are made for.

There are others but these are probably the top manufacturers.

+1 for Frost!

add Mann ML filters to the purolator list...

I think a "who currently makes what brand" would be a good sticky

Both Pennzoil, Quaker State, and Shell filters are made by Purolator.

To my eyes, the easiest one to read is BITOG-Blue.

It was a sticky at one time. Apparently it was difficult to maintain it. There was also a "who to call" number list.

Btw- Champ labs makes a couple of domestic OEM assembly line filters and some OEM aftermarket filters.

They make the OEM assembly line filters for Ford and (I think) GM they also make some AC delco which would be the OEM aftermarket filter.

For the noobs. OEM assembly line filters are not what you get at any parts counter ..at least from a domestic. They're bid items that add to the total bottom line of the vehicle rolling off the line. The OEM aftermarket filters have far more room to make money on.
