Got a couple of these for my dads car and was wondering who makes them and are they decent filters? They are really heavy compared to the Bosch 72200 I usually use.

it's probably one of those made in china ones. the kind quick lube places use since it's dirt cheap
cut it open. i couldn't find anything with just the brand name. maybe the inside might give us a clue

Weight has very little to do with filtering capabilities. The bosch and P1's are some of the finest filters you will find.

We would likely need to see the parts of it to know who makes it.

Pull back on the camera. I feel like a bug flying into a huge oil filter. I bought a case of Chinese oil filters on Ebay and it looks alot like them. But its hard to tell by the pictures. They are too huge.

lol... those are good pics to me and fit on the page

maybe yall need a bigger monitor or up your resolution :p

can you cut it open? pretty please with a cherry on top

I do believe it is a FRAM private label. I went to the local Mavis that just opened, and asked what they used. They use Havoline oil and TVI Worldwide, which he said is a FRAM private label. So FRAM Extraguard with different paint likely.

The more round unpainted base crimp looks similar to an Asian filter like Full, NPN etc. Also the plastic base cover isn't seen on US filters that I know of, and the o ring gasket with edge is not found on US filters I know. I call the crimp Asian because I think they buy the same machines. American crimp, as I call it, is flatter, more even with the can side. I like the flat crimp for no other reason than, to me, it looks more developed.
