these are prices for a honda/acura oil filter...others are more or less the same.

Yes we DO.

On top of the price, we don't have a very good selection in brands...

Hurts just thinking about it...

Indeed!

K&N's are expensive
PureONE's are expensive
Amsoil EaO's are expensive

Even the WIX filters aren't all that cheap compared to stateside.

Canadian Tire gives you the choice of Quaker State, FRAM, [censored]-Tire's own FRAM, and the almost 20 dollar K&N's.......

Walmart has the amazing choice of FRAM or FRAM.

Parts stores seem to have Delco or FRAM and some have the K&N ones

Benson has Delco, FRAM, Purolator PureONE and WIX.

NAPA has NAPA, WIX and ???

Then you have the dealer brands.

Hey, you've got to pay somewhere. We can't get your XD-3 synthetics ...nor (I think) your Rotella SB 0w oils. It's kinda like mutually assured frustration.

It does give you a different view of EaO's if you're already an Amsoil customer.

I notice there is some oil dripping out on some motomaster oil filters (C-T brand). Does anyone think C-T "reuse and recycle" those oil filters?

"Quaker State filters feature Safe-T-Screen®, an advanced high-tech filtering medium with a special blend of cellulose and synthetic microfibers that provides protection from engine-damaging contaminants and meets or exceeds automotive manufacturers' specifications"

so, quaker state is also a synthetic filter

Nope, just various grades of overpriced FRAM.

Walmarts here have not carried Motorcraft or ACDelco filters for some 3 or 4 years now.
Rather than stockpile oil, I should have stockpiled $2.49 ACD's and Motorcrafts.

i used the pure ones all the time on my own engines when they were blue.. i stopped when they turned gold and the gold started to flake off.. I think they since fixed the problem... Also what is everyones opinion on pure one i think if it filters that good than in the winter there would possibly be flow issues and would cause the filter to go into bypass... I use motorcraft on my fords and sometimes purolator plus (group 7) on my other engines..
In my shop its all group 7 which is purolator never a problem

Does this mean I need to get a truck of oil filters and bootleg them up to Canada, then fill the truck with XD-3 cases for the return trip?????

Who wants to chip in for fuel????

$1.50 worth of pretty cheap insurance if you ask me :)

This is as good a thread as any.

Original and new QS8A filter. All the markings are identical, made in the USA. Physically still the same except for overall height. Too bad the price didn't drop in step. Purchased from Canadian Tire.
The Chevy QS5 is at the moment still full height. Hope it stays that way. Easier to get the longer filter on/off than the short filter. Though I suspect it will probably reduce in size as well since the shell is the same for the ford and chevy filter.
