My parents PT Cruiser need new plugs and wires soon. Their local dealer wants $175.00 to do the job. I know they have to remove the intake manifold to get to the plugs. You are paying for the labor.

I get 40% discount at Napa through my work. I will be headed down to their house next month. I will give it a try on replacing them. I can pick up the parts for around $32.00. So does anyone know who makes their wire sets? Are they decent quality?

Thanks

do not know exactly who makes them but I have been using them in every car I have owned or serviced. Good quality made in USA cables. easy to have them last 75k and still be good. Cant go wrong with thier cables.

They are "Belden" brand but I believe they are made by Federal Mogul. The last set I bought from them was, even had FM documentation in the box. I only buy NAPA or NGK wire sets for OEM style wires.

Remove the bolts that attach the upper intake to the lower intake and use a bungie cord from the hood latch to the upper intake. it will allow you to slide right under the intake and get the plugs out. I used to do them all this way. It shouldnt take more than 30min of your time. Good luck

I bought the Napa wires and NGK plugs. I read a lot of bad things about the OEM Champion plugs. I found great instructions and pics on this site.

PT plug change

I have also used the Napa Premium wiresets in every vehicle I've owned in the past...probably 10 years or so. They seem very good, and well made, and have never had to replace them after.

NAPA Premium is made by Belden. I have been running them with no complaint for >40K mi. Now I am getting some misfiring in wet weather due to one wire that was partially severed when I hit a deer a year ago...but that's another story.

There could be several grades of wire that carry the "Belden" name, however.
