It seems now that getting a new LCD (40" or 42") TV is being delayed by the need for a new TV stand for our living room. at this moment we want something functional and looks decent, and not hi-end furniture.
Gail (wife) wants some space on either side of the TV so she can "decorate" a bit. so we looked at two 60" wide stands online, and we both like both, so I thought i'd check and see which one you guys think looks better.

(Stand-1 below, according to reviews can be assembled leaving the doors out, so I might do that for additional ventilation, although I have no products that get really hot right now)

Thanks a lot IA; Please vote for Stand-1 or Stand-2
..and please point out and mention any (+) or (-) things you might notice that we may have missed.

Stand-1:
$299.00
Overall dimensions: 21" H x 59.75" W x 19.75" D

Where are you going to keep all your A/V gear? Neither one of these seems to have a lot of space, and whatever is there will probably result in heat issue (insufficient ventillation).

#2

Actually, I love them both because there is no unsightly wiring running from the components to the TV!

Who makes those "wireless" components? :-)

None of my electronics generate a lot of heat...they run pretty cool.
and I plan to leave out the back and any doors out, so i guess that should provide enough ventilation.

#2 will be easier to get things in and out - wiring in a unit like this is a pain!

Figure out which has a better quality wood and veneer.

that's what I thought, too...but i think that's due to the white background on that pic.
Look at it with some stuff in it, in a more normal setting..much better I think:

Not bad, but honestly I'm really picky about stands myself. I can't seem to find anything that I like, despite spending hours upon hours sifting through websites and rummaging through B&M stores. Anyway, no big TV = no stand needed, so I'm set. :)

I do like #1 the best - Looks retro... Very cool!

#2 Looks good too, and it does sit a little higher.

What matches best with the rest of your furnishings?

Definitely like the retro look of stand number 1. But honestly, if you know what's good for you, whichever the wife picks. ;-)
