Which orbital buffer?

I ordered an Ultimate Detailing Machine this morning! I got 4 LC 6.5 pads with it, two orange and two white, and also got Meguiar's #83 and #21 as well.

I figure that for starters I might just go with #80 on a white pad at speed 5 to see how that goes, and if it's not agressive enough, then I'll step up to #83 on an orange pad. Does that sound like a good plan? I've just read so much stuff over the past week that I've changed my plan of attack a number of times!

One more question, if I don't get the results with #80 and a white LC pad, would you recommend my next step be to use #83 with a white pad, or go straight to #83 with an orange cutting pad? Keep in mind, the Corvette's paint is very hard.

I'm loving my UDM so far! I've made big improvements already, although it is a lot of work. It's not like a rotary where you can make one pass and see a big difference, you need to work the same area repeatedly. But it's definitely safer in the hands of a novice compared to a rotary, and it's more powerful than a PC, it does not bog down as much when you put pressure on it.

I went with the Lake Country 6.5" CCS pads and I love them! They are extremely durable, the two white polishing pads that I've used the most so far don't even show any signs of wear yet despite many hours of use. I just bought two more white LC pads for spares, and so now I can also change pads more often when polishing as well. I also bought a black finishing pad too so I can use my UDM to apply my LSP when I'm done (in my case I am using Meguiar's 21 synthetic sealant)
