Glad you are not bitter!

I pay $53.00 for a conventional oil change for my 07 Tundra at Iffy lube. And I don't have to pay sales tax.

$65.99 is not too bad for synpower. There is over $30 worth of oil alone in the change.

Based on performance alone, there's nothing I wouldn't use with a current rating.

However when price is factored in, some (not all) M1 products and especially RP products. Just too many better oils for less money.

With politics factored in, I don't like the whole story that we all know of how M1 was gpIV and the lawsuit and all of that. Castrol I hate because of the beyond stupid advertising.

That's nothing. I kid you not, a local GM dealership will do a dino oil change for 49.95 and a synthetic oil change for 80 bucks!

When i first bought the Elantra, I called the Hyundai dealer to see how much a synthetic oil change was, and they told me $64.99 then tax...

So, i then quickly went to Walmart, bought some 5Qt jug of M1 5W30 and a M1 filter, and was done for under $30. this was in 2007.

My local GM dealership is doing oil changes for $9.99 for up to six quarts of dino. I can buy the 5 quart jug of synpower at Walmart for $20 and a Fram (valvoline filter is comparable) for like $2. That's ~$40 markup.

What`s so shameful about the overpriced dealer "synthetic" oil changes is that they`re not using genuine synthetic oil.

In terms of company behavior I really don't like, Valvoline's engine Guarantee comes to mind. Especially since corporate basically told us it doesn't cover anything.

I would never run an oil that needs daily testimony on how good it is. Almost every day someone is writing I have a YUGO with 400,000 miles on it. I have used bozo oil for 61 years and never had any trouble.Do you think anyone is moved by this poop??? Then on the other hand yes probably many now that I think of it.

I would never use RLI. First I do not like the idea of a vegtable oil in my car unless it has been esterfied tot he point that it no longer is remotely close to the vegtable oil it started out like. For instance Castor oil esterfied great stuff on the other hand raw castor oil no way! I also would not run Neo until they remove the lead. We have enough heavy metals in the envirnoment I fail to see where we need to purposely put a toxic heavy metal into a passenger car oil! On top of that lead can cause valve sticking issues and if ZDDP is bad for your cat imagin lead acaitate or lead sulfate or whater they use???? We had to run a straight pipe when I lived in German. When the Army sent you over their you had to get a pipe to replace the cat because back then all the fuel had some lead in it and it was hard sometimes to find unleaded fuel.
