The only car North Korean assemble are Compact Fiat clones. 99.99% of the population can't buy one.

They moved production of slant-6 parts to Mexico in the 70s. They were still building complete slant-6 engines in Mexico late into the 80s, after they were gone from automotive use in the US. They were last used in cars in 83, trucks something like 86, but they made industrial slants for longer- maybe even into the 1990s.
