Hi and thanks in advance,

I've read through many threads and seems to be a coin toss, but I thought I would ask again. I recently bought an 08 Jeep Liberty, being old school I dropped the oil and filter at 500 miles filled with 5W-20 Pennzoil yellow bottle and plan on switching to PP 5W-20 and use that oil exclusively in this vehicle.

I was planning on switching over at about 2000-2500 miles on the ODO. I like the benefits of the PP, and realize the yellow bottle for my needs might be just as good BUT, the deals I see on PP made it a no-brainer for me. I plan on changing the PP every 6 months or 6,000 miles (warranty requirements). Any down side to switching this early? Owners man said synthetic oil is fine. Last new vehicle I waited until I had about 10,000 miles, but that was 20+ years ago, and the thinking then was that everything would break-in better with the conventional oil. Old habits die hard but I'm learning.

Thanks,
Frank D

Thanks for the reply, that's the plan and now I feel more comfortable with it!

FYI for some reason the 3.7L gives high iron numbers. For this reason I don't extend mine our further than 5-6k miles.

Does anyone know why the 3.7 gives high iron numbers?

I have a feeling I will be under the 6,000 miles the Owners Man suggests, it will probably end up being two 6 month OC's/year.
