Same. What I meant by "post price per quart" was to just calculate the effective price per quart regardless of jug size.

I don't do stashses because what happens whenthe new gretest oil comes out on the market? What then.

New Oils like Mobil 1 AP or Valvoline Modern Engine at a $20 increase a Jug? I'll keep my stash!

Redline 0w20 @ 12.49 from Summit Racing with 6 months zero interest on 100.00 or more. Pretty easy to do and no membership dues.

20 qts redline 0w20
1 bottle redline si-1
1 archoil 9100
1 qt redline 5w20
8 qt castrol transmax cvt
Oh check out what I found also. Redline 0w20 Dexos also. I think Aquarius commented about only using the flagship line in products like these. It's roughly five dollars less than the big boy oil so it's not something I would be interested in. Having Dexos labels doesn't give me any confidence either as we see every day how much of a failure GM and UAW are.

Professor Euler...his column buckling model was one of my banes at university, but I aced the exam.

All of those vertical columns with no diagonal bracing in the longitudinal plane have always made me tread carfully in the highbay pallet racking.

As soon as a single column gets an eccentric load (tap from the fork), the columns simply buckle.

Grab a plastic ruler, stand it on it's end and apply finger pressure and notice that it's very strong...put light finger pressure in the middle, on the flat, and watch how as soon as an eccentric load is applied the ruler wants to buckle.

Or a simple aluminum soda or beer can. It can support your entire body weight as long as the side wall isn't dented. All it takes is a tiny dent or crease and it collapses.

My shelves were sagging, but I reinforced them with more wood. I had to replace one complete shelf in the past because it cracked.
I moved them to the shorter shelves since those are much less likely to bend.
Here is where they used to be, you can see the shelf on the top I had to replace, as well as the thicker reinforcement that was really needed.
This was back when I had 33 gallons of oil (I think this was my highest).

For one, I don't beleive an a "new greatest oil". Second, if that point did ever come, I would keep using an oil that does what is supposed to for 1/5 or less the price.

SN will be relevant for the next 10+ years for most vehicles on the road, except for TGDI engines, which I have no plans to own any time in the next decade.
If you get a new car every 3 years it could possibly become an issue, but every vehicle I change oil on is fine with even SM oil, some even SJ, so SN/SN+ will be just fine for me for a long time.

It also depends on how many vehicles, oil capacity, and the OCI. If you have one vehicle and do 1-2 oil changes a year with 4qts per change, then yeah, a 100+ qt stash makes no sense, but some change a lot of oil.
I use around 45-50 qts a year on the 7 vehicles I regularly change on, so my "huge" stash is barely 2 years worth.

The collapse in that video should qualify for a mega-engineering disaster. As Shannow hints, it should never have happened and it should be presented to the engineering community for study.

And published as a case study of what not to do.

Just today I won a case of 12 quarts of Country Mark 5w-30 syn blend and a 2.5 gallon jug of Glysophate (Roundup) herbicide in a silent auction at a 4-H livestock show. My winning bid.... a whole $5. Makes the oil about 42 cents a quart, and the herbicide free. The herbicide is $40 at Rural King. I win?

I may also add that I picked up a 5 gallon pail of Rotella T4 15W-40 at Walmart on Monday for $15. I'm doing pretty good lately. Wife is elated.
