Hi, I've got two dogs who shed like crazy in my car. Despite multiple seat covers there is hair all over and my little portable vacuum doesn't stand a chance. I have been looking into a shop vac however I don't know how long the filters will last and they seem to be one time use only. What do you all recommend? I usually vacuum both cars once a month.

The old home vacuum with an extension cord. Hose works fine. Nothing else. It takes bags which I just empty into the trash outside after I'm done with it. Picks up and cleans everything as long you use the right attachments.

Vacuum probably won't make much of a difference.

Buy thick rubber gloves and wipe the seats repeatedly, it'll clump the hair together and then you can vacuum it up.

Shop vac will work fine. Find one with higher hp and larger attachments..and yes filter will last more than 1 use..alot more.. remove filter from time to time and shake it off outside and reuse..

Shop Vac is my go-to. I would, however, keep it dedicated dog hair duty. Even the cleanest dog will make the vacuum smell a little funky. I've had the same paper element filter in my vac for years; every once in a while I'll shake it out and blow it off with the compressor. I would also buy a cheap window squeegee to get all the loose stuff off first.

We also have dogs. I use a shop vac with an upholstery head that has vacuum powered rotating brushes, and it does a great job. I rescued the head from an old household vacuum cleaner set.

Shop vac. I have been using the same Craftsman one I have for 25 years. Still does the job, although it is one noisy sucker.

For a long time - Craftsman shop vac - 8/12 gallon - one at home & one at camp ...
Also have a small stainless Shop Vac that takes bags ... since buying three sets of Weathertech mats last Christmas - the 5 gallon can do the little bit the mats leave behind when I dump and wash them ...

I think Walmart has a sale on a nice little 4 gallon shop vac again that I use with bags. $20. One can pull the hair out and use the bag another time or two.

After watching a drywall guy do some work at my house with his old Ridgid wet/dry vac...I threw my Shopvac in the garbage and bought a Ridgid. That was 7 years ago and it will still suck the chrome off a trailer hitch!
