I have a 1998 Trans AM with a LS1 5.7 V8 that has 50K on it I am restoring it to original condition it has been sitting for 4 years. So what to do first should I run some sort of cleaner with an oil change? And any thoughts on what I should run in it and what weight oil? I don't have the manual to tell me.

FWIW, Mobil1's oil selector page says 5w30, and I think that's accurate.

If you want to do some cleaning, I'd recommend using a top-shelf synthetic oil (not going to recommend a brand) as opposed to oil additives. If you're restoring the car anyway, it might be worth taking off the valve covers to see if there's any sludge or whatnot.

Pennzoil Ultra 5w30.

Sitting for 4 years?
Yank the spark plugs and squirt some oil in the holes to lube the cylinders. Let it soak for a good while.
I'd drain the oil and refill it , so you know what's in there.
A 5-30 would be good - - you want cold flow.

A short 2-3K OCI with synthetic, and if you want to presoak like mechtec2 says, use the old plugs and replace them with ne wplugs ONLY after the soak and running for a few days. Id would be pretty aggressive with the throttle but not the RPM during this clean out. Stay under 4K RPM. You may also want to remove and clean out the fuel tank; service the trans and completely flush the brake fluid and PS fluid.
