To me they seems to be, if you want something that is old school, you only notice Beatles being played. I haven't heard much other stuff from that era from other bands or singers.

then you need to get out more.

They were the most noticed vanguard of the British invasion. We had our own homegrown stuff that took time to develop out of blues into R&B.

Mainstream music in the USA had to be massaged and "cleansed". That is, someone like Perry Como had to sing it ..in his mainstream manner. Think about it. Elvis couldn't be shown on television below the waist ...Ed Sullivan wanted the Doors to change the lyrics of Light My Fire.

What's funny is that Chuck Berry could tour Europe in the 80's and fill a stadium. Here in the 80's he'd be lucky to fill a nightclub.

Anybody who is worth many millions of dollars and marries without a prenup isn't all that smart. That divorce settlement out to buy quite a few prosthetic legs....

I totally understand Beatles mania. Not only did they have more hits than any other band, the songs were also better, IMHO. They wrote the BOOK on rock & roll AFAIC.

No other band even comes CLOSE to THE Beatles IMHO. Nearly every song they ever made was like magic. I loved each song, as well as millions upon millions of other people.

Close to 40 years after they broke up, Beatles music probably brings in more $$$ than Pearl Jam ever did at their best.

They're not over-rated AFAIC. They're simply the best. They proved it in many ways.

If John was still alive they would have probably made him a Sir also. Music like theirs isn't made any more. Never was and never will be.

Of course he's serious. There's nothing the matter with him or anyone else thinking The Eagles are the 2nd best band. So what if I think the Stones are 2nd best, or the Hollies? To each his own.

I think The Eagles are a great band too. If you don't, then perhaps you belong to a different generation or have different tastes, and nothing wrong with that either.

Perfectly.

The Eagles are a great band. Henley, Walsh, Felder, etc., all some of the best in the business IMHO.

"Couple of good songs"?

Try about 20 hits and 2 greatest hits albums, not to mention solo albums by Henley, Walsh, and Frey.

I love that song. I wouldn't attempt to name one favorite Beatles song, there are about 20 I'd have to choose from, and this one is in there :

I'm not too quick to dismiss the early Beatles work. Respected groups such as the Who, Deep Purple, Stones and Yes all covered early Beatles songs.

The Eagles are underrated IMHO. Frey and Henley were good singers and songwriters, Walsh and Felder talented guitarists.

That's right. I said it. Don't have a stroke.

I see what you mean about The Eagles though. They may be a good band but in ways they can't hold a candle to The Beatles. :)
