PP ultra looks good. Can't find it on the shelves. Looking to order it from walmart.com... anyone know if its new version you get or the old golden stuff?
If you don't burn oil does it matter much? I read they murdered the new Ultra. I always used Mobil 1, it never let me down. UOA's were always good, when I had them done. Now I plan on running them every other year just to spot check for problems.
tbh I dont think noack matters a lot for non turbo engines. I live in Canada and even after a 1hr drive on 401 in summer my sonata 2012 oil temp barely reaches 95c. I believe in winter on short trips the last thing you would wanna worry about is oil evaporating due to heat.
It keeps the crankcase clean, keeps the exhaust ports clean and it keeps the engine breather holes from plugging. Also a low Noack generally means better base quality oils
Quote:
Association of Phosphorus Emission with Oil Consumption and Volatility - Oil consumption caused by oil volatility has always been a concern for automotive engineers because of the associated deposits often formed on piston rings and combustion
chambers. Concern that oil volatility could cause phosphorus in the exhaust stream, added to the desire to reduce oil volatility. Consequently, progressively lower formulated
engine oil volatility (as measured by the classic Noack volatility test [9-12]) was required for oils meeting API and ILSAC GF-2 (22% loss) and GF-3 (15% loss) specifications.
Thus the reason for the 250C, which is representative of what happens in the ring belt, and the oil film on the cylinder walls exposed to the high radiant heat from combustion.
Probably pretty hard online. Sometimes stores don't update imagesssoy ou could easily get new stuff with old picture on the Web. Maybe order one to test and if it's all good go back and order the rest.
