One thing that alot of them mention which they all seem to like is that when they pull the valve cover to do any overhead work, they can actually see the head and if any injector leaks are present they can see the carbon trail as it will be the only black spot on the head. They also tell me that they like how it stays cleaner longer in their diesel engine before turning dark unlike most oils, as soon as you run it, it's black as the previous oil.[/QB]

I'd be interested to see an analysis on these. When an diesel oil turns black (they all do very quickly), that tells me that the oil is doing its job by sequestering the soot produced by the engine, to be carried to the full and (if applicable) bypass filter. Frankly, I'd be more worried if it DIDN'T turn black.

Just dropped my sample of Mobil 1 5W30 (Trisyn SJ) in the mail for Terry. The jury will be out shortly and will render its verdict in the Oil Analysis forum.

I swapped in some 5W30 Supersyn and will sample that after another 5K or so. Conditions should be similar (hot weather highway miles, heavy use of the AC) for both samples.

dbrowne1,
Thanks for sharing this information. I am sure that along with myself, others here are also eager to see the results of "real world" analysis and comparisons.

Good Evening,
Steven
