I have a '98 T100 pickup that gets driven once every two or three weeks at the most. The OCI's are pretty long with this little driving and even though I know the oil recommendation is to change every 6 months regardless of mileage, it just doesn't happen. It may get changed once a year. I have been using Motorcraft semi-synthetic 10-30 motor oil.

Is there an oil that is will provide better protection for longer OCI's?

thanks.

In the Great State of Texas parking it indoor or in the shade would probably make a bigger difference than a different oil choice.

When you do take it out make sure you get up to normal operating temp for a while (especially in the winter) and you can go by miles vs. time. I go a couple, three years on the '87 F250 (which gets driven even less regularly than your example) in the mild Pac NW.

Cheers!

I'd say just stick with the Motorcraft and change it once a year. MC is a good syn blend, easily good for over a year with low mileage use.

Here around Houston it is practically impossible to go anywhere in the truck without getting it up to operating temperature, so I have that going for me.

Thanks for the advice gents, I'll keep on keeping on with what I've been doing.
