My Accord has been a great car and I plan on keeping it for another year or two. I have no problems with it other than it's too slow. If I do buy another car, I'm considering the Mustang GT. I really like the way this particular one looks. The only change I would make is I would get rid of the spoiler and put on a lip (I think that is what they are called??)

jetta diesel wagon w/MT

Porsche boxter (nice commuter car)

Subaru diesels if they ever come this way...

I haven't but I've heard a lot of good from it, seems to come with a lot of nice features for the price and I love the engine options. It also seems to be faring well in reviews.

I really like the new CTS. I haven't had time to go look at one in person, however.

X2 to G-Man. My parents just bought one with the DI engine. Very nice interior and ride quality.

i do like that new lancer.

The accords are UUUUGGGGGGLLLYYYY, IMO. Coupe is better than the sedan, but not saying much. You really have to see it in person, and spend a lot of time looking at it from different angles to decide if it is your thing... Its a shame, as Ive always liked the clean, simple yet slightly "sporty" lines of the accord.

I've gotta agree about the new Accords, but that's just my opinion. And it also has the unintended side-effect of making the looks-challenged Camry look better. I'm starting to wonder if the designers of mid-size family cars have just run out of "looks" for their cars, and have started trying anything just to differentiate from the last "look."

I agree. It should win Ugliest Car of the Year. I don't even like the Coupe.

What went wrong? The concept was great.

everyone's got the "muscular fenders" now. I bet Honda couldnt use too much from the concept accord, lest they be accused of mix and match copying design cues from other manufacturers. I too wonder what went wrong. They could have done soooooo much better.

Along what ekpolk suggested, the new Accord looks like Honda trying to catch up with the ugliness of the current generation Camry. But in the end, unless they are hideous, for me the looks become secondary to performance and longevity.

Probably not, but did the fact that the gas prices tripled in the last 8 years stop many people from buying uneconomical vehicles? Not really. Gas bills as a percentage of income are still low enough not to matter much. It's like salt... if the price of kitchen salt increased 3 times, would it cause you to suddenly use less of it?

I can't say that any new cars really have my attention. Maybe it is just me, but automotive styling seems to be in a rut. A lot of cars just look strange. Styling cliches that should not be repeated are being used over and over again...Toyota has fully adopted BMW's Bangle butt. A lot of designs just seem kind of lost. Ford is in some kind of endless search for a "family look;" GM is into making very large blobs, like the Acadia & twins everyone likes so much. Chrysler cars are all going for a seriously overdone "edgy/cool" look I suppose to make up for the 90s. I think the Accord is actually kind of attractive, but some parts look like they could interchange directly with a BMW. The Civic is looking kind of bloated though. Maybe I'm stuck in the '90s-early '00s, but I don't think I should have to cringe at the majority of new cars and say "well, maybe it will grow on me."
