I have two gallons from my last X3 + lawnmower drain. You have to come to MD and pick it up though.
I'm waiting for my flight from Phoenix to JFK via Fort Lauderdale because that's how the algorithm re-booked me after the plane broke on the ground, so don't think for a second that distance makes you safeI have two gallons from my last X3 + lawnmower drain. Does AutoZone in your city collect used motor oil?So it would be much less trouble for me if I could find the cheapest of the cheapest oil around a similar price, buy it, and just return that back. Would save me the trouble of negotiating, pouring used oil from the recovery container, clean it, etc.
I'll probably still go down the rabbit hole of figuring out how to make it look used, but that's for another day.
No way, been called a thief and a scammer in this thread already... and walk out with them.![]()
I know that the notion of triggering event has started as something useful and positive, but it has been so much sullied in the recent past that I'd tend to ignore it in a no BS, technologically oriented forum such as BITOG precisely.
I don't allow myself to get triggered without having all the information - no reason I see why I should be ok with others getting triggered by a simple title (which, again, is not mine - it was changed to this after referring to the forum's moderators).
That the oil I'm asking about would never be used in an engine is stated on line THREE of my initial post.
If someone couldn't get to read till that line before getting triggered - well, "I empathize" as Elizabeth Banks once said on Jimmy Kimmel.
In this case you are not stealing. You just get the used oil people left for recycling. Nobody is harmed by that because neither the customers nor AutoZone paid for that used oil.No way, been called a thief and a scammer in this thread already![]()
Ah, kind Sir, nope, technically it's the people's oil becoming Autozone's oil. At no point in time is it mine to take, unless I ask one or the other. In this case you are not stealing. You just get the used oil people left for recycling. Nobody is harmed by that because neither the customers nor AutoZone paid for that used oil.
Eeeehhh...nope, but ok.Unfortunately, the thread title, itself, is the triggering event in this case.
View it as entertainment. Watching certain BITOGers get predictably triggered is part of the allure of this site.
Buy used oil from an employee of one store and take it to another store? That's a sad you lead, though. Not a joke. Legitimate question. There's a reason for my madness.
- Oil will never be used in an engine.
- Preferably - available in 5qt and 1qt. Larger containers might work, but no more than 5gal preferably.
- All it has to do is - look like used oil of any standard 4stroke viscosity.
You might have guessed it - there's a certain store I love to work with, where you can return the used (let's put that in bold for those who know to write but avoid reading) oil you bought from them and get credit for the next purchase.
Sweet deal, but I hit the following bump:
- Most of the time I prefer to have my oil changed at my local oil place. They do a good job and it works for me.
- In the best of scenarios, the kids that work there will recover my used oil in a container I'd give them, then I'll drive home, pour it back in the original container and return it to the store. However, there's always a randomness to it - I have to hit the right day to get the right kid that would agree to do it. Plus, even when they do it, I'd feel bad if I don't give them an extra 10 bucks for their trouble.
- So for the half year when I don't do my oil changes myself - it still costs me a few bucks and some trouble to recover my used oil back.
So it would be much less trouble for me if I could find the cheapest of the cheapest oil around a similar price, buy it, and just return that back. Would save me the trouble of negociating, pouring used oil from the recovery container, clean it, etc.
I'll probably still go down the rabbit hole of figuring out how to make it look used, but that's for another day.
Ideas ?
Thanks
You did just read the title (which i didn't choose), then jumped to replying, right?... or if you are that low funded might be best not to drive your vehicle.
OK why in the h%$#. would you do this ??Not a joke. Legitimate question. There's a reason for my madness.
