Actually when I had my turbo, Chevron worked the best.

Now with my NA cars, the cheapest regular is the best in the Ody and the Cheapest mid grade is the best in the 855.

Pabs, I am an "ABC" drinker of gasoline (Anything But Citgo) too. That's completely for geopolitical reasons however.

I pretty much stick with Shell. It's one of the cheapest gasoline stations in town.

I get 5% cashback on ALL gasoline (and auto parts) purchases with my Discover Gasoline card.

Shell and Chevron seem the best to me - best overall stations/pumps, mpg, and price. Every now and then Vallero beats them in price - might stop there. But their pumps look like they were from the 90s and there is no water in the windshield washers - place is a dump.

Wha'd I'd like to see is a quality comparison between Shell and Chevron and their additives.

Mostly BP ARCO - 87 octane 10% ethanol blend (mandatory in California since Jan. '03). Occasionally Valero. Never had a problem with either in my 2.7L Hyundai V6. Highway mileage averages over 30 mpg with A/C on and cruise set to 75 mph.

Shell regular now, had been using Amoco but saw MPG fall to 35. My Civic normally gets 39.5 MPG, something must have happened to Amoco gas. I am back to getting 39.5 MPG (all round average) using Shell regular.

I use BP/ARCO because around here it's 10 cents cheaper than shell and 20 cents cheaper than chevron. When I am in Arizona Chevron/Quick Trip.

My '06 3.5 Impala runs best(butt dyno) and gets best mileage on 93 octaine. It seems to prefer Exxon. There is a particular 3/4 mile uphill stretch on the interstate that I consistently see 3-4 mpg increase with premium (cruise engaged, same speed etc.). With regular it will kick down a gear or unlock the torque converter I'm not sure which. Probably the ecm is retarding the timing a lot in response to the knock sensors input resulting in a loss of efficency.

Anyone have problems with Valero? They are $.20/gal cheaper than the surrounding stations but my car runs like cr_p. My startups hesitate too... I don't know why I do this just to save $.20/gal.

Today is my 5th time I've filled up there - and I had a hard time getting my car started.

Things we do for money...

All my vehicles run their best on Valero. I've only found a couple of bad Valero stations out of all the ones I've tried.

I like BP/Amoco Ultimate the best, but it's hard to find around here.

Chevron and Shell don't do much for my vehicles.

I usually buy gas at the Local Kwik Trips in 87 octane only

i will buy from other stations, as long as they don't have the 87 in the ethanol blend, i don't want that crap

I use Shell, and BP regular and a discount Exxon has their super at a reasonsble price, +$.20c over reg. I am told that tank drivers routinely drain out some gas to use in their personal vehicls and add water to make it up. That is except Sunoco drivers, who get to fill-up free as per corporate policy. I have this via a decent source, so I use Sunoco too.

Whatever's cheapest. BJs, Walmart or any of the name brands. I can't tell one bit of difference in my two cars between different "brands" of gas.

I used to believe that Gas was gas.. but I always get nasty mileage with cheaper stations like Wesco, Admiral and Walmart gas stations.

Only gasolines that work best for my car is Shell, BP, Meijer Brand.

The best gasoline that has 10% Ethanol blend for my car is Sunoco at the Ohio and Pennslyvania Turnpike.

I don't have any preference what gas I get. I fill up with regular 87 gas in the VW Jetta. It seems to like Chevron and Shell gas. I don't seem to get the best gas mileage out of 76 though.

On the other hand my dad usually fills the Toyota Camry at Olympian gas stations. Sometimes Chevron and Arco. Don't seem to notice any difference between gas stations.

I think MTBE is not used anymore, 76 used to advertise with banners "No MTBE".
