What is "stout"?

I keep seeing this statement thrown out alot in reference to the oils ability to hold up.
But what exactly makes one oil more "stout" then another. Why is PP stout and SynPower isnt?

Also, how stout are we talking? Delvac 1 or Amsoil 15w40 stout? What point of reference is being used to base this "stout" statement off of?
 
It's subjective. It really only applied to additives you can on spec. analysis. High tbn above 11, high zdp above api sm levels etc.....Doesn't mean it's better either because there are additives you can't see with new oils.

Dry stout, sweet stout, or Imperial stout?

If I heard this reference in terms of oil, I'd still think beer, but then I'd say they're referring to shear stability. Or a good add pack. I don't know, I've never called an oil that.
