What is detail spray anyway? watered down spray wax, alcohol, a combination of the two, what?

It seems like really stupid stuff, but I find I end up using it for this or that.

i believe its kinda like a spray wax/cleaner. generally used to clean paint that is dusted over or thin layer of dirt. or u can use it after waxing.

It allows you to do "touch-up" jobs inbetween washings... As a detailer myself, it is used if the car sits and gets dusty, bird poops on it, etc... The spray prevents any scratches/marring to the paint when used correctly.

Some of them are best used after you wash, inbetween waxes... They "refresh" some of the sealant properties like water beading and all that.

Good stuff though... I always have some on hand.

I usually use one after an actual wax. Seems to help the shine and get rid of any water spots or other imperfections right after a wax.

I like it but if you do the cost calculation, it is crazy expensive!

That depends on the brand and the size container you buy it in. I prefer Poorboy's Spray & Wipe which can be had in five gallon containers. Now that I no longer detail for a living I buy the gallons when on sale.

All makers have their own formula. It is a cleaner and some offer a shine enhancer, some do not.

+1 He is right. Detail sprays were typically used in auto shows etc. to remove dust and finger prints and offer a shine. Can also be used as clay lube but light shine and cleaning is typically what it is used for. This is different though compared to Spray waxes which have shine/protections and typically little to no cleaners.

I use it when I buff/polish a car and need to remove excess buffing compound and clean up area to see if I missed any areas

Its strangely useful....I wouldn't think of being one of those guys who had to wipe off stray fingerprints before driving my car, but it comes in handy for this or that.

I find it handy for a quick cleaning of my faux marble bathroom sinks. When used with a microfiber towel it cleans pretty well and leaves behind a shiny surface that seems to resist staining better than the usual bathroom cleaners.

Detail spray is also used for the ease of drying the car.

After washing, I always mist the car lightly in with Adam's Detailspray and then dry the car with a Microfiber drying towel.

Makes the MF towel go smoother across the paintwork and reduce the chance of (micro) marring. Also adds a bit of gloss.

I don't think it has any way in it per say but it's great stuff. I use it mainly for after getting my car washed and when the guys sponge on the Armour All on the tires it flyes all over the lower rear od my fenders promting me to wipe that area clean again.

There are spray waxes too. I like the spray detailers, I use them a lot on my black vehicles when drying and between wax jobs..

My wifes '01 Lexus(purchaced new) has seen ONLY Spray Detail Products all its life. As has my '04 Altima(purchaced new) and my daughters '06 Mazda3(not new) but all 3 vehicles look friggen great! I've posted pics to other members and they'd agree.

I use them religiously on my motorcycle and I have had many comments saying my bike is the nicest detailed bike they've ever seen. If you're using the right detailer, and you're using it correctly, they can make your vehicle look as good as anyone's...

I like to buy on sale, any good name...wax as you dry or quick detail product and use it just about every time I wash the cars. I use them a bit differently than the directions but, the end result is better IMHO and the cars always look freshly waxed! Only takes a few extre minutes. I have mentioned my technique here in other posts.

Well, I put two coats of carnauba wax on top of the sealant--I was very proud of myself. But then the wax seemed to attract quite a lot of dust after just a couple of days. I certainly didn't want to wash again, besides, unless I stripped the wax, the dust would come back. So got that bottle of detailer that came with the claybar and quite a lot of microfiber towels and it looked great! Detailer tends to be anti-static, too.
