What is an original mile

What does an orig mile look like compared to an non orig mile?
my car may have a few non orig miles

So if I disconnect the spedo cable, the miles then are non orig?
all miles before me can be non orig a buddy says, all the miles I put on are orig 🧐
if I go to Canada, I’m not putting miles on, now what?

Yes, if you were to drive any with the cable disconnected, the odometer would read less than actual miles traveled. In many states, a seller is required to flag this condition on the title. The title not having this flag is what a dealer would call "original miles."
 
Many years ago speedometers were easy to turn backward. I noticed at the local u-pull it yard that many instrument clusters are gone. I was told that people buy them to turn back miles on a car.
 
On old cars you can tell a speedometer has been tampered with if the numbers are not perfectly even. I agree with others that many people would disconnect the speedometer or buy a reducer. A reducer was a little gear you could change and instead of reading 80 mph the vehicle speedometer would show 40 mph and the miles would only accumulate half as fast. Some shops would charge about $50 to have the speedometer reduced or rolled back. Just like Walmart's rollbacks. Ha!

tampering is un orig miles? 130k can be all orig miles too.
the term orig miles is used way too much.
