I'm wondering which businesses charge the highest and lowest labor rates. In the collision business, some areas are as low as $38.00/hour. (We don't actually set our rates; one certain big insurance company sets it, then the others follow suit

So, BITOGers, what do you charge on an hourly basis in your industry? I'd be curious to hear from plumbers, electricians, escorts, IT guys, whoever charges by the hour

Who's working for the least? Which business bills the most?

$120 labor per hour, plus parts cost.

This is the local Honda/Kawsaki/Suzuki/Artic Cat/Yahmaha/Bad Boy Mower, dealer.

I work in a fabrication department -- welding,CNC,water jet, routers, etc. Our company is a custum company and charge $68.00 an hour labor for everything except the water jet -- that rate is $128.00 an hour. We dont even make one third of what our Business Owner charges. The rich get richer.

$108hr in my auto center where i work. We get 22% of tht an hr plus our hourly rate. Some things are a flat rate.

Medical equipment repair, test and calibration.

$125 an hour for general biomedical, $190 for laboratory, $220 for anesthesia machines, and $600 for MRI, CT, Cath Lab, EP Lab, IR, Mammography, Nuclear Med, Bone Density, ....etc.

Bay Area California. Lexus dealership. $180hr for things that are out of the ordinary. Everything else like maintenance & repairs are $120-$160 & menu price flat rate. The GM & Hyundai dealerships next door are about the same in pricing.

When I had the software business we billed custom programming at $300/hour with a 4 hour minimum. At that time my wife (an attorney) was billing at $250/hour. When she finally retired a few years ago she was billing at $375/hour on average.

We currently have a couple of business ventures, one of which is a cemetery mapping service. We average between $100 and $125 per hour (for both of us) depending on the contract, but our overhead is minimal. We only operate it during the spring and summer months and choose when we work (usually weekend mornings). It's a nice little retirement venture and we currently have contracts into 2017.

I'm just a gigolo so my rates are very low...........

I mean er uh..... Boat repair $105hr. They raised the rate from $99hr recently. Not saying what I make, that would be in poor taste. Also I don't want to be the low guy on the wage totem pole.

CNC/Manual - lathe and mill repair.

$125 @ hr labor
$75 @ hr travel

$450 min service call. Include 3 hrs of labor and 1 hr of travel from our locations.

Engineering, field consulting, logistics and problem resolution.

Generally $200/hr, negotiable on a contract or project basis.
Higher rates apply to special circumstances and are not open for discussion.

Retainers are usually returned if not exercised. This policy has had amazing results for future business. It's been really cost effective in the long run. Over a ten year period it's been more effective than any marketing scheme we've ever tried. Part of the reason is that our work is so specialized that it's difficult or impossible to explain in simple terms that would be part of an effective marketing campaign.

Ford / Mazda dealer $140/hr.

When I build a key lock cylinder for someone we add $40 to the bill for my time. $100 when I cut keys for a 10 cut cylinder and I match the cuts on the new keys to the cylinders on the vehicle.

High speed, full color laser printer tech. 375.call charge gets me to your door and you're first 30 minutes. 360.an hour after that if you are on T&M. Depending on equipment, a service contract can be from 3000 to 10000 a month for unlimited service 24/7, but bear in mind, when running, my equipment can generate up to 4000 dollars an hour profit for the customer.

A service contract for a hospital in healthcare can range from $50K to $200K per month depending on size of hospital.

All contracts are negotiated at corporate level.

Local Nissan dealer seems to charge about 100 eur/hour for a mechanic and 130 eur/hour for an electric guy.
