Economics, son. Buy low - sell high. Paid $1.50/can for them in the early 90s. 40 cases is about half of what I started with.

atf,filters,dry charged batteries,r12 and 22,tires,real 40w 4' fluorescent tubes,and just about anything else i use on a regular basis that i find on sale.includes ammo!
and yes dry charged batteries are around.esp big commercial ones like d31,4d,8d.keep forever if still sealed.add acid when you need one.
long shelf life food that needs minimal prep too.

Those are well past their...ummm...expiry date. I'll take them from you so you don't have to worry about properly disposing of them...

Saxophone reeds (keep about 3 to 4 boxes for alto and tenor at all times)
Oil filters (2 for each car)

None of this stuff takes up much space, though.

I'm not sure if this is stashing, but I save lots of fasteners -- wood screws, nuts, bolts, washers, e-clips, everything. I always seem to find the odd size I need without making a run to the hardware store.

Any automotive fluid, just in case. Brake fluid, coolant, washer fluid, PS fluid, gear oil, etc. I try to keep at least one "change" worth of each.

I also tend to hoard the better fuel system cleaners whenever they're on sale, like Techron Concentrate, Regane, SI-1, etc. Right now I've got a few bottles of Techron and SI-1 in the cabinet, enough for 6 treatments.

Until R143a started to show up in those CA approved cans (with the $10 deposit on the empty and a 90-day return window), I used to pick up two or three whenever they went on sale.

Brake cleaner and starting fluid are always useful to have around the garage.

I also used to stash away taco flavored Doritos. Not the Taco Supreme ones, but the retro 1970's taco flavor.

I stash modern quality Double Edge razor blades, and single edge razor blades.

I'm old school when it comes to shaving and still use Vintage Quality Gillette Double Edge Razors, Vintage Quality Gem Single Edge Razors, and Vintage Quality Injector style razors. These razors are real works of art and "Made in the USA" when quality was paramount in production. No plastic razors and plastic carts for me.....my razors all are nickle coated brass or stainless steel with American quality from the 1940's, 50's and 60's.

Europe, Asia and the Middle East still make Gillette and other quality double edge razor blades. These people have not been brainwashed into only using the 5,6 or 7 blade cartridge system with 4 replacement cartridges going for over $25 a pop a WM or the local drug store.

For less than $25 with shipping, I can get 100 excellent double edge or single edge razor blades that will last for months. So I stock up on E-bay or when I see a sale on Amazon or a vendor with the blades that I like to use.

I still use Quality European Badger Shaving brushes and quality shaving soaps and creams....no goop out of a can for me.
