I have another question about a different vehicle I have been working on a 1980 Honda Civic 1.3 DX it has 107,300 miles on it and has been parked since the clutch went in 1991. I have been restoring it for a daily driver for fuel mileage since it got 41 mpg back in the day so last May I brought it home and basically went through the whole thing including paint and all. I changed all the fluids and it didn't use any oil when I parked it in 91' I used Castrol GTX 10W40 and that's what I put back in it has been running well so I was going to go on a longer trip than lately about 15 miles to the local auto parts store and I got 8 miles and it started rattling and the oil light came on so I shut it down checked the oil and it was full. I started it up and revved it a little and the oil light went out then the noise went away but the light came back on and would not go out so I turned it off and hauled it back to my shop. When I looked closer the oil appeared to have gas in it and looked black and thin this oil had no miles on it more than 20 at the most. So I hope (fingers crossed the gas thinned the oil down and made the light come on)I know gas may have got in because I had a bad carb a couple weeks ago and it filled the carb throat with fuel and flooded badly until I changed it to another new one, any opinions? I am adding new oil and filter tomorrow and then if the light is still on I will do a pressure check. Anyone have any experience with contaminated oil doing this?

thanks,
AD

Fuel contamination from a bad carb definitely could cause it, if the fuel was just dumping into the cylinders in large quantities.

I'd change it, check it to see if it's milkshake, and check your antifreeze level too. It could also be a sign of a failed head gasket.

I ruled out the pump it is new and in the rear of the car with a new relay that controls it when the key is on. But this could have dumped fuel into the carb before I put on the new control relay when it was flooding on me.
