Why ? Do you find they make your gun dirty faster than others? I have run across that with a few ammo makers before.124 - in anything but Winchester White Box.
Dirty, I can live with. Why ? Do you find they make your gun dirty faster than others? I have run across that with a few ammo makers before.
Federal ammo used to be very bad at fouling up my pistols and even my deer rifles. I have recently had one or two automatic jams with those Winchesters target shooting.
I have some WWB in .38 - should be Ok for a S&W wheeler ?Dirty, I can live with.
Bad rounds - damaged cases right out of the box. A squib load. Malfunctions due to light loads.
Winchester white box had been my go to - but recent experience shows it to be Inconsistent, with poor quality control.
Lousy at any price.
I have an entire case of subsonic .300 BLK and about every 5th round was causing a malfunction in a suppressed rifle. That rifle is a Daniel Defense, and the suppressor means that it has plenty of gas. @Rand was there - My rifle had been flawless for years.
Right up until it met Winchester White Box.
I’ve seen the damaged cases and squib loads in WWB 9mm.
Fool me once, Winchester, I will never buy that ammo again.
I think so - you can check it for quality as you load each one.I have some WWB in .38 - should be Ok for a S&W wheeler ?
Thanks -I think so - you can check it for quality as you load each one.
I caught the bad cases in the 9mm. And the squib.
I figured it was a run during their labor troubles, and I was willing to forgive it. But an entire case, $800 worth, of .300 BLK is all junk.
So, I am done with Winchester ammo. I cannot justify ever spending the money with them again.
I'm not a fan I have had some bad white box mostly in .22lr and a few 9mmWhy ? Do you find they make your gun dirty faster than others? I have run across that with a few ammo makers before.

WoW. Sorry to hear about that. Me too. In my hunting days Winchester & their Super X was always my rifle and shotgun go to ammo. I have recently had some issues with a white box of Winchesters. My 9mm jammed a couple times the last time I used it target shooting. It surprised me because it was not only the first time, but when I looked over the gun it was pretty clean after 2-3 clips shot thru it.Dirty, I can live with.

A real shame. Winchester , at one time was considered top shelf, high quality. NO MORE.Most Winchester ammunition is garbage, their .22 ammo is absolute garbage.
The only decent Winchester ammunition are AA shot shells.
I will certainly be looking into the S&Bs you guys have discovered to be of a high quality.I’ve been through several cases of S&B. It’s performed very well. And you’re right, it looks flawless when it comes out of the box.
Exactly. I remember fighting through some Winchester .22 ammo thinking that it was bad enough to make a new shooter quit the hobby.I mean, range ammo is basically a commodity item. It should all be functionally identical(ish). But if one brand comes out of the box perfectly clean and works great every time, and a cost difference is pennies, that makes it an easy choice if it's sitting on the shelf next to other stuff that has a reputation for being dirty/quirky/whatever. Life's too short.
Of course using too much bad / poor quality ammo and the next thing one knows is their gun is "Totaled!"I mean, range ammo is basically a commodity item. It should all be functionally identical(ish).
