Why worry so much about the spelling, its probably new age text messaging. Who cares, I know people that didnt graduate and are millionaires. You are placing too much on her spelling, shes not applying for a teaching job, shes attempting to sell you a car. At least shes working and not laying on her back collecting welfare checks. To say anything to her boss about her spelling would not make you look smart, but little, with a complex to try to make others seem smaller yet.

I am a research scientist/engineer, and keep a spotless lab notebook with good detail. That notebook is my set of "unedited notes", as I write down what is going on and what Im doing as I do it. My handwriting might look somewhat similar to chicken scratch (not the worst Ive seen though), but my grammar, spelling and punctuation is quite good (IMO).

The high level engineers I deal with have impeccable spelling and grammar (including some foreign nationals). It's the lower level engineers that are sometimes lacking in these skills.

Honest! I was going to say something along those lines... I wanted to be sure that "impeccable" wasnt the type of thing that came across

My experience has been the same as Kestas. However, Ive had severe issues with folks who did not have English as their first language, not because that was the case, but because there would be such a disconnect in communication, that everything took too long and was too difficult to get across.

That said, some of the best research that Ive funded has come from folks with marginal skills (due to English being a second or third language).
