I taught someone the hard way about this back a couple weeks ago. I put the trailer of my big truck right over the front of their little Toyota and squashed it flat. They are lucky to still be alive.

Wouldn't that be attempted homicide (or I am hoping you didn't do it on purpose).

Basically folks who think I'm driving too slow and want to express their displeasure about that by tailgating. Uhm, that doesn't work... I will continue to drive the same. You drive your car and I will drive my car. When you get a chance to pass... go ahead... in the meantime follow at a safe distance.

Assuming you are driving on a multilane road.......

If you are in the left hand "fast" or "passing" lane you bet your [censored] I am going to be right on you if you are blocking that lane and I am going faster than you.

If someone is traveling leisurely in the far left lane at a rate slower than other motorists, they are antagonizing other drivers. I can't wait for the day that the "rocket launcher" option is a tick mark on the build sheet for my next vehicle.

Testing the laws of physics is another theory......

You assumed wrong.

In any case, what you describe is most definitely not defensive driving and will put you at risk and others at risk.

Yep, you are one of those drivers I consider a pet peeve even if you are not on my bumper.

Lol, it was not on purpose. But I am sure they learned their lesson!

So you are stating that you see no problem blocking the left lane while driving slower than other motorists on a multilane highway, forcing others to make lane changes to pass you on the right because you won't get out of the passing lane?

Defensive driving or not, that's just being an [censored].

Guys stopped to turn left on a two lane road. The 50 MPH roads around here have an almost-breakdown lane wide paved shoulder. If the left turner stops with their left tires within 18 inches of the double yellow line people can get by on the right.

This scares a few though, who will stop, blinker on, way too far on the right. The world does not all run on regenerative braking yet; let's waste some gas because of one guy's vendetta.

I see you stating that... quote me where I state that.

That might be the one that frustrates me the most. People behind me might think I'm strange when I drive slowly on the first part of the ramp to allow the person ahead to build some distance so that I can be sure I'm at traffic speed when I hit the freeway. Even with that, they still often slow me down and making it difficult to merge.

I'm liking this thread... except the bicycle debate. A lot of you repeated what others said already.

I'll add one more for tonight: People who pass you when their turn is nearing anyway.

If you really did that to someone intetionally, and they survived the experience, I'd say you are as well.

People who merge on to the freeway and immediately find their way over to the far left lane. regardless of other open lanes or their speed relative to oncoming traffic.

If you had better reading comprehension skills you'd already understand that he DIDN'T do it on purpose.

I hate when I'm on a sparcely travelled interstate, and when someone passes me, they have to immediately move back into my lane, leaving only two or three car lengths between us. Since I abhor tailgating, and I don't want to brake, I (there's no one else around) move into the left lane until there's two seconds gap, then resume my polite right lane position.
I also hate when people passing are even with my rear bumper, and they're still a foot or two in my lane.

(Vote for me for King. I'll get all this mess straightened out. And BITOG members will get special treatment and/or cushy jobs.)

Everything said here goes in Miami and Fort Lauderdale...The worst thing down here are the Organcycles...I have near misses with them daily and generally come across a dead one at least once a week...I came across a dead one last Saturday...Some get decapitated on some of windy entrance and exit ramps...They generally go over 100MPH all the time every day...I had one just yesterday do whellies in front of me while he was doing around 85MPH on I-95 in Miami...They get ZERO sympathany from me when they crash and tie up traffic while the FHP does their investigation...The FHP clocked one doing 140MPH over the summer but they did not chase it...They generally do not chase Organcycles cause that will cause to much danger...After several motorists were killed while the cops were chasing Organcycles at over 100MPH they decided not to chase them anymore.

I will add once I get out of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area things calm down with the Organdonors...I have driven all over the country and have to say the bulk of the people who drive Organdonors are overall careful...When I lived in the NYC area and had to drive to upstate New York everyday I did not have to put up with such nonsense with the motorcycles.

1) My biggest peeve is lack of turn signal use. I do not care if you are aggressive, crazy, normal or timid. Use your turn signal so I can understand your intention and react properly instead of wasting energy trying to read your mind.

2) Following too close in slippery conditions(winter).

Sounds like a lot of people have the same pet peeves

My pet peeves are the license fees. the cost of insurance though way less than medical insurance and paying for gas and the car itself!

I hate people who think they are entitled to pull out into a lane from a dead stop when pulling off of the shoulder into a lane of traffic. I see this so often, it is stupid.

Also, people in PA need to learn how to merge, they are one of the worst states at merging.

People who pull out in front of "big" trucks because they don't wanna be 'stuck' behind it........I drive a big truck (30 foot by 26,000lb big) and can't stop on a dime when the G6 or Civic pull out right in front of me! That goes for you too cross over SUV piece of trash!
