had colorado in my crosshairs a couple weeks ago. A click of the mouse and I can transfer anywhere my employer operates. RR track rights
Union Pacific? I've always thought working on the railroad would be an awesome job. How abouts did you get on, if you don't mind me asking?
Worked for UP last year, then got furloughed. Applied at BNSF, got a conductor job. 2 months into training with BNSF, UP called me back to work and I had to tell them sorry but im working for your competitors, the ones that didnt furlough. Check out their websites on a daily basis and keep an eye on job openings...apply apply and apply again. If you get an interview, then the number one thing in your life is safety safety safety and being able to go home to your family at the end of every shift. They eat that up and that what they want to hear. RR'ing is a very safe career, just not very forgiving when an accident does happen. So they want to know you are the safest person on the planet. What they dont want to hear is, that you own train sets, you sit outside the yards taking pictures because you like to look at trains. They dont care if you like the RR or not.
I have a brother at UP and he would rather work for bnsf. I wasnt at UP long(about 5 months), but I was there long enough to hear 75% of employees saying they would rather work for another RR.
