Having an '05 Scion w/the 1.5 VVT-i, I don't think you'll hurt it any w/the 5W40 RTS, but why spend the money? Just get your hands on a quality dino 5W20 or 30 (on sale of course!), change it every 5K (like I do) or wait for the oil life/maint. req'd light to come on, save that RTS for the D-max! (Which, while not a Cummins, is still a great diesel engine in a pretty darn good truck!)

With a [relatively] high revving motor like that, and the required warm-up time that everyone mentions, it's not really worth the expense of a Diesel oil. Unless you have real high miles and have a sludge worry and need the detergent effect (in which case, please see Mobil1 or similar).

Keep 5w40 demand low...so I can buy it for less $. Another winter of 15w40 is going to kill me...
