so I joined the Air Force..where the officers go

into combat...death from above..

I do believe it was sarcastic, but I don't think today it's very meaningful. For example, just how do you define "combat"? Sure, an infantryman will give you one definition. And I'm sure that a USAF airframe tech will object if you try to tell him that being mortared while trying to fix a jet isn't "combat". I could go on, but you get the idea.

i'm not sure I understand that one...

sarcasm?

EDIT: sorry 'bout the layout on this one -- I'm too tired to bother trying to unscrew it...

I do realize what he meant. Don't forget; before I lost my mind and went to law school, I spend eight years doing the "death from above" thing (USMC EA-6Bs -- maybe I should say "electrons from above"...). If one enlistedin the USAF for that reason, it's the perfect sarcastic response, IMHO. Of course, don't forget that my sense of humor is warped beyond recognition.

Some of the guys here are fast with the proverbial rope, eh?

For what it's worth, I sensed no sarcasm at all, and my psychiatrist Justin says I'm paranoid.

And I'm schizophrenic..we would make a great team...Didn't I read somewhere that personal attacks could get you banned from this site? Maybe that was a rational thought..the meds must be working..

Tim, "BZ" to your daughter and to you and the Mrs. for being her parents! My 14 year old son aspires to go into the USAF Academy when he graduates from high school in a few short years. He has a 3.8 GPA, Nat'l Junior Honor Society member as well as participating in Basketball and Track. A "long hard slog" but well worth the effort.
